MDO Curriculum

Our program will focus on one characteristic or concept of God each month that will be taught in every class and in our weekly chapel time. These concepts will be reinforced with stories and interactive play. Each month we will also focus on one of the Fruits of the Spirit.

In addition, our program has weekly thematic units that our classroom activities center around. We have 2-3 special event days each month (splash day, rodeo day, etc.), as well as community helpers that come and visit us throughout the year.

Each class will work toward developmentally appropriate milestones.

Two-Year-Old Program

Our two-year-old program is designed around the understanding that at this age, each toddler is now developing their own independence and new ways to express their needs. Two-year-olds are encouraged to make independent choices, develop self-help skills and begin to solve problems. They also practice listening skills and through our large group activities learn to be part of a group and follow directions. We introduce our youngest students to academic basics such as: colors, shapes, counting, letters, and weather/seasons. Their activities are organized around our weekly themes and include art, story time, building blocks, circle time, music, and playground time.

Three-Year-Old Program

Our three-year-old program focuses on school readiness with a structured daily schedule that teaches social skills, listening skills and respect for our friends. Our team helps to strengthen each child’s decision making and self-help skills in a safe supportive environment. You will see caregivers sitting with your child in teacher-led activities such as puzzles, learning games, and hands-on activities. Large group time is a priority that helps your child learn to be a part of a group and also gives them an opportunity to express themselves. Our program focuses on: colors, shapes, counting, recognizing numbers, patterns, letter recognition and sound, writing, days of the week/months of the year, and weather/seasons. We use a teacher planned curriculum that provides letter recognition and sounds. Their activities are organized around our weekly themes and include art, home living center, dress-up, manipulatives, creative play, and discovery (math and science lab), music, and playground time.

Four-Year-Old Program

Our four-year-old preschool program focuses on school readiness with a structured daily schedule that teaches social skills, listening skills and respect for our friends. Our program focuses on preparing students for kindergarten. Our curriculum helps to provide instruction in letter recognition and sound, numbers and beginning reading. We will introduce your child to reading and provide the head start needed to better prepare your child for Kindergarten! Each class includes fun activities and positive learning experiences that introduce high frequency words through games and manipulative activities. The children often find themselves being authors and illustrators of their very own books that they can read! The sessions are designed to be building blocks that increase reading vocabulary. You will soon find your child reading stories right along with you! It is a positive learning time where confidence in reading is the main goal! The program also focuses on colors, shapes, counting, recognizing numbers, patterns, sequences, writing, sight words, days of the week/months of the year, and weather/seasons. The activities are organized by using learning centers that include art, journaling, home living, dress-up, manipulatives, creative play, playground time, music, discovery (math and science lab) and any many more.
